The NCBAHM Board of Commissioners is a diverse body of volunteers committed to the advancement of our profession and public safety through the certification of our Diplomates.

The NCBAHM is inviting nominees for Professional Member positions to the Board of Commissioners for service commencing March 2027.

  • Prior experience serving on a nonprofit, corporate, or state board and/or NCBAHM volunteer experience;
  • Minimum three years of experience working in the AHM profession
  • Willingness to serve as Board liaison for NCBAHM Exam Development Committee (Acupuncture, Chinese Herbology, Foundations, Biomedicine) once elected on Board

Preferred Qualifications and Expertise:

Below are a list of additional relevant skills and experience. Qualified individuals may have one or more of these:

  • Strategic planning experience
  • Understanding NCBAHM’s mission and core business
  • Experience advocating for the profession
  • Strong communication skills
  • Patient advocacy, or public outreach experience
  • Corporate governance and/or entrepreneurial experience

The NCBAHM Professional Member Commissioners serve for a term of three years and function as agents of the NCBAHM with the following responsibilities:

  1. Serve on at least two standing committees to include monthly virtual meetings and prior review of posted exhibits and meeting preparation. The estimated time commitment of a Commissioner is ten hours per month.
  2. Attending the March, June (virtual), October, and December (virtual) Board of Commissioners meetings. In-person meetings will be multi-day as needed.
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of and support for NCBAHM certification standards and policies.
  4. Progressive experience and willingness to step into Board Officer Positions.

New Commissioners are expected to complete a Board orientation and become familiar with NCBAHM standards, policies, and procedures.

This is a wonderful opportunity for NCBAHM Board-Certified Acupuncturists to deepen their professional involvement. We encourage all to apply: our Board is diverse, comprised of a broad range of ethnicities, ages, and experiences, and we welcome your nominations or inquiries.

Interested candidates can apply directly via their NCBAHM Certification Portal (please follow the instructions for submitting your application and required documents).
