Does Acupuncture hurt?Great question! We get this all the time. Acupuncturists are the needle experts in the Commonwealth with more training than Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Podiatrists, and Physical Therapists. We use FDA approved sterile, one-time use, filiform needles designed to be as painless as possible. The two most common sensations experienced, but not all the time, are a small pinch upon insertion and a dull, achy, or throbbing sensation. A lot of times, you won't feel anything. Keep in mind, all people are different so your experience may not be the same as others. Please talk to your Acupuncturist if you have any worries. I feel so good after treatment, do you put anything on the needles to help me feel this way?Despite feeling very relaxed, sometimes euphoric, after a treatment, Acupuncturists do not put anything on the needles before they insert them. What you experience is your body's natural endorphins, hormones, and nervous system coming back into balance. It feels so good, doesn't it?!
