Course Description
What You Need to Succeed: Essential Skills in Managing Pain with AOM Modalities is a 2-day, in-depth study of theory, principles, modalities, and techniques of integrative pain management. This course will provide participants with the fundamentals needed to successfully assess, document, and treatment chronic pain cases. Participants can expect to gain proficiency in patient communication and education related to pain, pain-specific history taking, medical documentation, physical exam skills (including range of motion, strength testing, sensory function), effective AOM treatment modalities (including cupping, gua sha, myofascial trigger point needling, electro-acupuncture, bleeding, distal needling, and herbs), and comprehensive treatment planning.

Anthony Von der Muhll, L.Ac., DNBAO, FAIPM
Anthony Von der Muhll, L.Ac., DNBAO, FAIPM is the founder and head instructor at AOM Professional, and also the founder of the Santa Cruz Acupuncture Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Clinic. He specializes in sports injuries and orthopedic and pain conditions. His education, training, and clinical experience includes:
- Over 13 years of clinical experience as a licensed acupuncturist, sports massage therapist, physical therapy aide, and athletic training assistant in multi-disciplinary clinics including the PRIME Pain Medicine Institute.
- Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine (2002), and first graduate of Five Branches University's Integrative Sports Medicine program (2003).
- Clinical Instructor and Associate Professor at the Five Branches since 2005.
- Diplomate of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics (2006).
- Fellow of the American Academy of Pain Management (2014).
- Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (2006).
- Served as an Expert Witness for the California Acupuncture Board (CAB) and in civil malpractice litigation
