1.
LAUGH Summer is the season for joy and laughter.

2..
SWEAT- Chinese medical text indicate sweating is a health promoting activity.

3.
DRINK, DRINK, DRINK Preferably water as it balances out the sweat and allows the body to cool off.

4.
EAT BITTER GREENS Bitter is the flavor associated with Summer.  One of the healthiest ways to meet this need is with fresh tender greens.

5.
BE SOCIABLE  Plan a picnic, join a group for an outing to a baseball game, enjoy life with others.

6.
MUSIC In one of the characters for Fire (the energy associated with summer) is a symbol of people making music.  Try an outdoor concert while the weather is nice.

7.
EXERCISE Which of course brings us back to sweating and drinking water!  It is also good for the heart which is one of the organs associated with Fire/Summer.

8.
BRING YOUR PLANS TO MATURITY Just as Spring is the time for new beginnings so Summer is the season for maturing and Fall will be the season for harvesting.

9.
AVOID CAFFEINE Regardless of the source, caffeine creates excess heat in the system, requiring even more water to balance it!  Ice is also to be avoided because it disturbs the normal temperature regulation.

10.
ALL FIVE Remember it takes all five energies working together to maintain health so keep grounding yourself daily, letting go of what is finished, making friends with silence and bringing your dreams into reality.
