The Acupuncture Society of Virginia (ASVA) promotes the practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia by:

(1) upholding high professional ethics and standards by monitoring and supporting legislation regarding professional standards and public safety;

(2) providing continuing education programs for licensed acupuncturists;

(3) educating the general public regarding the nature and scope of acupuncture and oriental medicine;

(4) supporting clinical research verifying the effectiveness of acupuncture and oriental medicine; and

(5) cooperating with national professional organizations.
